History

Local Voice began as Davis Media, founded by Thomas G. Davis in 2005 with the purchase of two FM radio stations in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Disenfranchised with the decline of neutrality and credibility in news organizations, the company launched Williamsburg Yorktown Daily (WYDaily), a free daily online newspaper, in June 2008, dedicated to winning back community trust.

By its second anniversary, WYDaily was read in more households than the 281-year established local competitor.  Today, WYDaily provides its daily news content to over 200,000 users each month.

Local Voice has since established its model in Wilmington, North Carolina, with Port City Daily, and Virginia Beach, Virginia with Southside Daily.

In 2017 the company launched Nativeworks to craft meaningful branded content to help local business owners better tell their story.

In the trailing 12 months, Local Voice digital newspapers have been consumed by over 2.5 million users for more than 10 million pageviews.
